Since the firstkilowatt-hours were generated from the Small Wind Turbine from Solid WindPower, the plant has significantly reduced its reliance on electricity from thegrid, leading to substantial cost savings.

Whenever the wind blows – which it often does in this part of Denmark –the turbine powers the plant’s pumps, aeration systems, and other criticalprocesses that ensure clean water for the community.
The result? An impressive 60 percent reduction in grid electricityconsumption, significantly lower energy costs, and a concrete step toward agreener, more sustainable future.
The Flovlev facility is part of Struer Forsyning, a utility company witha clear focus on sustainability and innovation. The decision to implement theturbine solution was not only driven by the potential for lower operatingcosts, but also by Struer Forsyning’s ambition to actively support the UNSustainable Development Goals — in particular, Goal 7: Affordable and CleanEnergy, and Goal 13: Climate Action.”
All the way to the first kWh
The household wind turbine, produced and supplied by Solid Energy, has a power of 25 kW. In Solid Energy, we have not only supplied the mill.
— we have assisted the energy company throughout the process. From the first ideas sprouted in Flovlev, to the permits were in place and the mill supplied its first kilowatt to the treatment plant.
The project in Flovlev shows how local renewable energy can be integrated into critical infrastructure. This can inspire other municipalities to similar solutions — because green transformation, sound economy and logical thinking can easily go hand in hand.
