Clean Energy for Sustainable Transition

The construction of Slagelse CHP marks the beginning of a new era for the city, where dirty waste incineration is replaced by clean and renewable energy sources. And in the center of the plant's production sits a heat pump from Solid Energy.

In Aarhus, one of Europe's most visionary district heating projects is now in operation. For the first time, geothermal heat from a depth of 2,500 metres flows directly into the radiators of thousands of Aarhus homes — and this is done with the help of heat pumps from Solid Energy. ‍

With Solid Energy's heat pump, Karup Varmeværk has built a unique plant that supplies 75% of heat from green energy sources, secures the supply and makes it possible to adjust the production of heat in relation to energy prices. During the months when the local potato flour factory is in production the heat pump uses waste heat and provides the factory with chilled water.

A massive investment is being made to make the transport, industrial and energy sectors as CO₂ neutral as possible. In that conversion, green methanol, or e-methanol, is intended to play a significant and prominent role. E-methanol is produced in Power-to-X (PTx) plants, and the heat from the process is harnessed by Solid Energy's heat pumps to produce district heat.
