10 years of HydroCarbon
Solid Energy was among the first to make HydroCarbon heat pumps succeed, and today we have over ten years of experience developing and applying Hydrocarbon-based heat pumps that reduce energy consumption, toxic and environmentally harmful refrigerants and CO2 emissions.

You have probably noticed that many people talk about heat pumps with HydroCarbon as a propellant as a novelty. You may also have seen that many suppliers are on the way or are currently launching their first series products. At Solid Energy, however, we have been developing and serially producing heat pumps with HydroCarbon as a coolant for industry and the utility sector for more than a decade, and we are thus among the suppliers with the longest experience in the field and the most plants in operation.
Obvious advantages
The benefits of using HydroCarbon as a refrigerant are many. Hydrocarbons are non-toxic and thus reduce consumption and pollution from toxic refrigerants. Pumps based on Hydrocarbons have fewer moving parts and are thus simpler to design and service. The simpler design provides stable, quiet and safe operation - even at flow temperatures of up to 165 degrees. In addition, the wide range of HydroCarbons and the simple architecture make it possible to optimize the operation for the application and thus significantly reduce energy consumption and CO2 emissions.
Among the first and largest in industry and supply
Solid Energy is today among the largest and most experienced suppliers with over 150 installed units in industry and the utility sector. The delivered capacity already exceeds 100 MW and it is growing month by month. More and more people see our technology as the first choice. This applies, for example, to the visionary geothermal district heating project in Aarhus, where heat is extracted from the underground 2.5 kilometres below the surface of the earth.
