New European framework agreement: Innargi and Solid Energy harvest heat from the earth's interior with Danish technology
Innargi and Solid Energy have entered into a framework agreement for heat pumps for Innargi’s geothermal plants in Denmark and the rest of Europe. The plants extract heat from kilometers underground, and Solid Energy’s heat pumps boost it to the temperature required for district heating. A green solution that helps phase out fossil fuels.

The agreement builds on a collaboration that is already working. In Skejby near Aarhus, geothermal heat from a depth of 2,500 meters is currently flowing into the district heating network.
For Solid Energy, this is one of the largest agreements in the company's history.
"It is a big day for us, and we look forward to continuing our collaboration with Innargi," says Jan Enemark, CEO of Solid Energy. "They have shown in Aarhus that geothermal energy can provide district heating on a large scale, and now they are taking the solution to Europe. We are proud to be a part of that."
And he has no doubt that Solid Energy is ready for the task: "The assignment suits us very well. Our technology is built to scale, so the same solution can be adapted to plant after plant."
Heat pumps in a vital dual role
Geothermal energy is a renewable energy source that provides stable heat around the clock – independent of wind, weather, and fuel prices. The heat pumps in the geothermal plant boost the temperature to meet the needs of the district heating network and also extract the final heat from the geothermal water before it is returned to the underground. This is crucial for the geothermal plants to function year-round.
"We have been very satisfied with Solid Energy’s heat pumps at our first plant in Skejby, where they have been running throughout the last heating season. We are also very pleased that Solid uses natural refrigerants in their solutions. Now, we look forward to the design of the upcoming facilities, where the modular approach will continue to ensure a good match between the heat pumps and the rest of our facility design," says Christian Vang Madsen, Head of Engineering at Innargi.
From Denmark to Europe
The framework agreement gives Innargi a fixed partner for heat pumps in upcoming plants. At the same time, Solid Energy will follow them into several European markets, where the need to replace fossil fuels with green heat is significant.
Together, the two Danish companies are showing how technology and know-how from Denmark can drive the green transition of Europe's heat supply.
